Stewart Races to Runner-Up Finish at IHRA Pro-Am in Crandall, TX

Charlie Stewart drove the new CSRC demo to a runner-up finish at the second stop on the IHRA Division 4 Pro-Am tour in Crandall, TX . Stewart red-lighted by .001 in the final handing the win to the red hot Joe Collier. “I couldn’t be happier with the performance of this new car. After selling last year’s car to Jason Lynch in the off season, we scrambled to get Luke’s new car finished, and then get our own car ready for 2012. It’s nice to know that we can build a new whip and pick right up where we left off last year. That says alot about the quality of cars we are turning out of the shop.” – Charlie Stewart.

Bogacki Ready to Hit the Track

Renowned big money racer, and creator of ThisIsBracketRacing.com, Luke Bogacki, recently took delivery of his new Charlie Stewart Race Cars ’63 Corvette Roadster. After many long nights at his Carterville, IL shop, Bogacki hit the track in Bowling Green, KY last week for the maiden voyage. The crew at CSRC spoke with Luke after the first day of testing and he was tickled with the car’s tunability and consistency. Following the successful test session, Luke is looking forward to kicking off his 2012 NHRA season with three consecutive events: the Division 4 LODRS at Texas Motorplex (April 20-22), the NHRA Spring Nationals in Houston, TX (April 27-29), and the Division 5 LODRS at Great Bend Motorplex (May 4-6). “We at CSRC are very excited to have Luke Bogacki driving a roadster from our shop this year. We’ve known Luke for many years, and look forward to watching him compete this year. Stewart Claims 2011 IHRA Summit Pro-Am Divison 4 Super Rod Championship

After his son got pneumonia right before the first IHRA Divisional in Crandall, Charlie decided to make the trip anyhow and drive the family ’63 Vette in Super Rod. With no lofty expectations, Charlie decided to just have fun, and never dreamed he would end up winning Sunday. With a win under his belt in IHRA competition, the decision was made for Charlie to run the car at the remaining 2011 IHRA Division 4 Renegades points races of the season. At the 2nd stop on the schedule in Baton Rouge, Charlie picked up yet another win. It was at this point that Charlie realized he was in the points battle, a position he never dreamed he’d be in this late in his racing career. Following a strong showing at the Shreveport make-up race, Charlie headed into the final race of the year in San Antonio, Texas holding on the points lead. “We had looked at the points before heading south, and noticed Arlie Boggs had recently traveled out of state and runnered-up at Mountain Park Dragway divisional. We were still sitting at 410, out front by 28 points over Arlie, and 48 points over Clark Mundt. Luckily we drew Clark Mundt first round Day 1 in San Antonio and were able to pick up the win. Advancing to the 4th round Day 1 netted us another 11 points, putting our total at 421. Day 2 paired Arlie and Clark 1st round and this obviously played into our favor since whoever lost would be out of the hunt. Arlie won that round, and all we could hope was to match him round for round so he couldn’t gain any points. Unfortunately we lost 3rd round Day 2, and were at the mercy of the remaining racer’s to knock out Arlie Boggs. A win for Arlie would have won the division championship, but as fate would have it, Philip Pennington put an end to his hopes for a championship in the semis. With Boggs losing, the championship was won, and our focus shifted to the Tournament of Champions race next month in Virginia. We plan on giving the other racers a run for their money in the TOC, God willing we will bring home the Super Rod World Championship to D4. NSD Inaugural Sportsman Showdown

Jason Richey drove the InsideSuperRacing.com/CSRC 1963 Corvette roaster to his first victory of the season at North Star Dragway in Denton, TX this past weekend. Competing in the Inaugural Sportsman Showdown, Jason captured the Super Gas victory over a red-lighting David Jones. “The car ran dead-on the 6.20 index 3 out of the 4 rounds, and would have done it in the 2nd round, but I lifted. I was just lucky to be the one driving this weekend. The car is running amazing as of late, and I’m just happy to get the win. My dad has won twice on the IHRA divisional trail already this year, so it’s nice to get one in my column finally.”
